Description

Tree #4: Sage

My self-summary: Just another dreamer, traveler, singer/songwriter, and poet. I believe that life is a crazy beautiful gift – a miracle, really, like spring flowers in the desert — and we’d better make the most of it… and be present, even if that’s hard to do sometimes. I grew up in a suburb among trees whose only dreams were to get a bigger scrap of lawn, or a bigger garden, or to do up their fronds in a certain way, just to look a certain way, whatever. Pretty tired of that.  I’m more interested in experiences than material things. Also looking to break through some arbitrary boundaries, like what all the trees around me think I should do. Looking for spontaneity and joy… I’m kind of a hopeless romantic. Looking for someone who feels the same way.

“Today, like every other day, we wake up empty and frightened. Don’t open the door to the study and begin reading. Take down a musical instrument.” ~Rumi

What I’m doing with my life: Trying to answer the big questions… and ask bigger ones.

I’m really good at: Meditating. Cooking vegan. Serenading. Spotting eagles. Getting lost (in a good way, I think. I guess not everyone thinks that).

The first thing people notice about me: I’m tall and willowy, I guess. Or the guitar? I’ve got that with me a lot.

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food: Oh, so many. In no particular order: Rumi, Gary Snyder, Walt Whitman, Italo Calvino, Maya Angelou, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Alan Watts, Eckhart Tolle, the Artist’s Way; Cat Power, Fleet Foxes, Avett Brothers, Townes Van Zandt, Grateful Dead; Into the Wild, Planet Earth; all things vegan, so, no carnivores, please.

Six things I could never do without: Wilderness, Guitars, Dancing (I used to take a lot of classes… modern and ballet mostly, but I also just like to move to music), Maps, Good friends, Vegan desserts (cashew cream! Omg).

I spend a lot of time thinking about: Climate change. The plastic ocean and the parched desert. My next big trip. The one part of the song I can’t seem to get right.

On a typical Friday night I am: Reading. Singing. Planning my next trip. Dreaming of you.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit: Let’s talk about it when we meet.

You should message me if: You’ve also got big dreams. And you play bass…

  1. Hi Sage,

You sound like a dream come true, pun intended! I AM a BIG dreamer and am hoping to connect with “real” trees. I don’t care about decorated fronds but I do care about the planet, music and a good veggie stir-fry. I don’t play bass but if it’s a must to get on your good side, I’ll sign up for lessons ; ) Next time I’m in town, I’ll hit up the Cap Rock area. Lots of good bouldering there and you of course! I hope you’ll sing me a song.

  2. Next come I come that way I will sing you a song on my guitar., lovely Sage. I play bass as well.
I’m anxious to meet you. Stay well.
